NurseTalk, produced by Patricia Lockard, was a trailblazing podcast launched in 2010. It was the brainchild of two spirited RNs, Casey Hobbs and Maggie McDermott, who—after three decades of scrubs and stethoscopes—decided to turn their laughter into a national platform.

Despite encountering a chorus of skepticism from radio stations—"Why not a doctor show?" “Is it just advice?”—the fearless nurses persevered.

 Nurse Talk ran for ten incredible years, making waves in major cities across the U.S. and spreading joy worldwide via the internet. They found a great ally in the country’s largest nurses’ union, and their mini-podcasts were featured daily on Sirius XM’s Thom Hartmann Program. The show received three National Communicators Awards for best new comedy/talk and best new writers.

Nurse Talk ceased production in 2020 during the dark days of the COVID pandemic and embraced a new role, adapting their platform to feature healthcare-related content produced by others, starting with the weekly short-form podcast Code WACK!

Launched in 2019 by executive producer Georgia Brewer, Code WACK! is a bold podcast that explores America’s broken healthcare system and uplifts visionary voices working toward justice and change.

Georgia is associate director and communications coordinator of the California OneCare Education Fund and its social media advocacy project, HEAL California.

For over 15 years Georgia has worked on both grassroots and social/streaming media campaigns to win healthcare equity in California and the nation. Based in Los Angeles, she works alongside allies in community groups, labor unions, advocacy organizations and more

She was inspired to fight for healthcare equity after watching her dad, who lived with a lifelong seizure disorder, be denied health insurance and forced to pay for his care entirely out of pocket. When he reached 65, the promise of America’s own publicly funded health insurance program - Medicare - came true for him, at last.

Brenda Gazzar, the host and co-producer of Code WACK!, has produced over 300 weekly podcast episodes topping 400,000 downloads. A skilled interviewer and storyteller, Brenda brings nuance, curiosity, and clarity to every conversation.

Brenda has worked as a multilingual and award-winning reporter with more than two decades experience in California and the Middle East.

Her work has been published by Reuters, Ms. Magazine, USA Today, Los Angeles Daily News, the Orange County Register, The Wrap, The Jerusalem Post, Cairo Times and numerous other publications. She speaks Spanish, Hebrew, and moderate Arabic and is the recipient of national, state and regional awards. Brenda also enjoys being a life coach, helping people align with their purpose so they feel fulfilled while achieving their boldest dreams.

Brenda’s work is grounded in a belief that systemic change and personal growth go hand in hand — and she’s here for both.

Chelsea Schreiber is the founder of Hermosa Social and a dedicated social media specialist. A mother of two, Chelsea is deeply passionate about fixing our broken healthcare system. For more than 5 years, she has developed and managed the campaigns for HEAL California and the Code WACK! podcast, uplifting their messaging across multiple platforms.

Her work focuses on creating impactful social media strategies that engage and educate the public on the importance of healthcare reform. Chelsea believes achieving healthcare equity is not just for Californians but for every person in the United States. She is driven by the vision of a healthcare system that provides comprehensive, equitable care to everyone, regardless of their circumstances. Through her expertise and personal dedication, Chelsea continues to play a crucial role in advocating for a more just and humane healthcare system for all.
